Thank You Guys

Today I started my day with a high! I just purchased a piece of land/lot at my Teaching Practice school, meaning I fell my butt off. How clever can you be, if you forgot the last step down the stairs. I'm my laptop and I are fine but my ego is shattered. This all happen when I was addressing learners for not being in class.

This happened in slow motion, the journey to my knees took forever, but it was like Flash and the learners were there to support me. Thank you gentlemen, I don’t know if I must appreciate the help or feel embarrass that they witnessed my stupidity. Whahahahaha. All is well and i needed a good laugh.

Starting with real lessons today and looking forward to it. Will keep you updated

What did you do for Mandela day?

I have copied this information for http://www.mandeladay.com/

“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead” – Nelson Mandela

Nelson Mandela International Day was launched in recognition of Nelson Mandela’s birthday on 18 July, 2009 via unanimous decision of the UN General Assembly.

It was inspired by a call Nelson Mandela made a year earlier, for the next generation to take on the burden of leadership in addressing the world’s social injustices when he said that “it is in your hands now”.

It is more than a celebration of Madiba’s life and legacy. It is a global movement to honour his life’s work and act to change the world for the better.

Teaching Practice Part 2

This is "The night before" the big day. Tomorrow I will be embarking on my second teaching practice exploration. I am so excited yet so freaking scared. New school, new challenges and new memories. I love what I do because I do what I love.

I feel like I know nothing lol. Why? you might ask, well having all my knowledge in English (in my head) and having to teach in Afrikaans. This to me is a challenge. I have to Google to understand my own home language. So hilarious, don’t you think.

I have to mention also that I’m staying with the nicest aunty ever. I’ve been here 2 minutes and I feel welcome. I’m very grateful!

So for the next 4 weeks I will try and keep you up to date with my teaching experience.

Are you Salty or are you Sharing

I recently stumbled upon this Video and it made me think. Am I the Dead Sea or am I the Sea of Galilee. Go look for yourself, who are you?
This is a very powerful thought. As teachers we are fed by the same river Jordan (CAPS). Do we keep to ourselves and give to the learners only those that is fed to us or do we give them more? Are we creative, passionate and are we in the habit of sharing. Let’s share what we have and give it to those that will run our country one day. Share and stop being salty!

Conversation Between Teachers about CAT

I don’t know if I should be worried or not. I had a conversation with another teacher on Facebook about CAT in our schools and his conversation really raised my blood pressure as well as my direction about my research field for Masters or even Honours.

I will add our conversation but unfortunately most of the conversation will be in Afrikaans. I would like all of you to please comment. I will be leaving his name blank for the sake of confidentiality.

My question is if teachers sit with this attitude what will the learners perception of CAT be when he or she have to choose subjects at the end of grade 9?

How important is ICT Skills

How to give back when you think you have nothing to offer. Living life as I life it, is not always easy, but how can I thank those who help me through the rough days. They know who they are, now words can express my gratitude. Why am I saying this, well communication is key. Communication across the world is taking place every second of the day. Week 2: Teaching Practice

I'm going to die! I'm not made for this. I cannot do this. How could I be so stupid! This was my mind set after my first lesson with the grade 10 Business class. Bubbling too much, bored learners and lots of nerves, that was my first lesson. I did not keep track of time and it bit me in the butt!

Week 1: As a Student Teacher

Driving to the town where I’m going to do my teaching practice, I became very emotional. Thinking of the journey ahead for the next 4 weeks. I, myself, was a scholar at this school 20 years ago and I also stayed in the boarding school. So I will be reliving my happy childhood.

My Grade R Experience

Monday morning (14 March 2016), I had the pleasure of being a Grade R teacher’s assistant, even though it was only for an hour and a half. What an eye-opener. She had to step out for a moment, which became quite a few minutes. What to do with 29 jumping Jacks. First of all, some exercises. (I am a Martial Artist, so why not warming up!) Was so cute, them jumping around with so much energy on a Monday morning! After that we started to exchange weekend stories. Interesting how eager they were to share with me their stories. (O! and they addressed me as “Teacher”)

My 1st HTML Website design

I’m so impress with myself, I can jump out of my skin.

Yes today, for the first time ever, I created my own html little website. I used the grade 11, “Computers, part of your life” handbook. Published by Study Opportunity. My Lecturers at CPUT is one of the Authors on this book. How privilege to be a student in her class!

Make a Difference

Today I feel blessed knowing that I can make a difference in someones life. We all have our own path that we chose for our self, but not one is the same. Sometimes we need each other to just inspire and motivate each other.

Who am I?

Many moons ago I was born (Issued) in Wynberg 2 Military Hospital. I have 2 brothers younger than me, both living in the United Arab Emirates. I was a pupil at Hopefield High School for 12 years, matriculated in 1996.

After school I went to the South African Air Force (South African Air Force) and worked there as a Sargent in the Military Police.

Welcome to my Blog

2016 - Not just a Leap Year but a year of change. I made the choice to study education, especially CAT (Computer Application Technologies). I was inspired by my Lecturers, while I was studying OMT  (Office Management and Technology) @ CPUT (Cape Peninsula University of Technology). They were very passionate about the subject and so inspired me to teach this subject myself.

I'm creating this blog to be use as a resource to anyone that share my passion and my dream. So please help me to make me a better blogger, person, lecturer, tutor, mentor, etc.
